By creating safe and open spaces to discuss critical topics, ask questions, and build new perspectives, PLS provides the opportunity for community members of all backgrounds to come together to learn from one another, build social capital, and collaborate to support their collective communities. PLS promotes advocacy and empowers community members to create meaningful change by providing equitable access to key stakeholders, community leaders, and partners. Further, PLS strengthens community building efforts by supporting open and respectful discourse over a variety of topics and experiences. By broadening societal perspectives, PLS encourages the cultivation of the social empathy skills required to truly live in community with others. Overall, PLS promotes social wellbeing by providing access to reliable resources and equipping individuals with the information literacy skills needed to seek out and obtain accurate information.
