Maker Labs
Visit one of our five Maker Labs to get started with your next invention. Maker Labs are open during regular library hours, and staff are available on-site to help you learn the equipment, software, and tools that you need to make, create, and design.
Maker Equipment:
3D printers
3D printers build up thin layers of plastic to create tangible objects based on your digital models.
Create prototypes, replacement parts, jewelry and accessories, games pieces, toys, and more!
Embroidery machine
Stitch embellishments onto a variety of fabrics using designs from digital files with the Bernina 880+.
Use the built-in design catalog or design your own and embroider multi-colored designs or monograms onto a variety of materials such as handbags, ball caps, t-shirts, and quilts.
Laser cutter
Cut out shapes, burn, or etch a design into an object's surface with the Epilog 60W CO2 Laser.
Create an etched glass vase, acrylic night light, personalized picture frame, holiday ornaments, and more!
Vinyl cutter
Sketch and cut large (up to 24 inches wide) designs onto onto vinyl, cardstock, crepe, paper, foam, fabric, chipboard, or leather.
Create and cut out custom items such as colored sketches, stickers, window decals, temporary tattoos, cards, 3D paper crafts, stencils, and more with this Silhouette Cameo 4.
Sewing machine
When your project is too large or complex to sew by hand, use our sewing machine! The Janome HD-5000 handles fabrics and jobs most home machines can't accommodate.
Based on stitch selected (18 types), the machine guides users through stitch width, length and tension settings, making the complex simple.
Recording studio/sound lab (Norman Public Library Central only)
Produce your own music or spoken word audio recording with our professional equipment. Create a podcast, songs, interview, record bedtime stories, and more!
