The Pioneer Library System (PLS) provides access to resources, services, and programs to support our mission of inspiring innovation, engagement, and learning in our communities.

Accessibility at PLS Locations

  • All locations have accessible parking onsite as well as curbside services.

  • PLS libraries have necessary ramps, entrances, water fountains, and restroom accommodations.

  • The Norman Public Library Central has elevators to make all collections accessible.

Assisted Technology

  • PLS webpage accessibility is powered by AccessiBe, curating an inclusive customer experience for all customers. AccessiBe supports devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets.

  • EZSee keyboards, headphones with microphone, magnification devices, and trackball mouses are available upon request at all locations.

  • A hearing induction loop system is available at Norman Central and Norman East Public Libraries.

Curbside and Delivery

  • Curbside service is available at all locations to pick up holds or chat with a librarian to find available titles to check out.

  • Home service delivery is available for eligible customers to choose titles from the collection to be mailed directly to your home at no cost. Simply send the item(s) back in the postage-paid mailing bag provided.

Language Access Assistance

  • Instant Language Assistants are available at all locations and facilitates natural conversations translated in real time in over 120 languages.

  • ASL / Instant Language Assistants allows customers to utilize ASL live interpreter services at all locations.

  • The library’s website can be translated into over 100+ languages using Google Translate. Google Translate, located at the bottom of the library website. Select your preferred language for activation.  

Library Materials

  • A wide variety of formats including audiobooks, eBooks, DVDs and large print materials, including braille are available for checkout from all locations. Staff are available to help anyone find materials for your needs.

  • PLS partners with the Oklahoma Library of the Blind and the Physically Handicapped to connect customers with the materials and equipment to meet needs.

Reasonable Accommodations

With the exception of Norman Public Library West, each PLS facility is owned by the city that it serves. Norman Public Library Central has 2 elevators to make all collections and floors accessible. Contact us so as to allow us to make reasonable accommodations at any of our libraries.

Blanchard

Oklahoma City

Schedule a Librarian

  • Schedule a Librarian is a dedicated service to guarantee extended, one-on-one help with a librarian. Topics can range from general help to very specific troubleshooting.

  • Appointments are available in person or virtually.

Service Animals

  • PLS welcomes library customers accompanied by a service animal.

  • The work or tasks performed by a service animal must be directly related to an individual’s disability and comply with all local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations regarding the use of service animals by persons with disabilities.

  • Service animals are limited to the animals defined under the ADA and does not include any other species of animal, wild or domestic, trained, or untrained.

What is my PIN?

By default, PINs are set to the last 4 digits of the phone number on your library card application. For example, if your phone number is XXX.555.1234, your PIN will be 1234. If you try the last 4 digits of your phone number, and it does not work, please complete the PIN Reset Form.

Why is my privilege expired?

Answer

The message usually means your library card has expired and it is time to renew your library card. This happens every 3 years to allow the library to update your information and make sure you are still in our service area. You may renew your card by visiting/calling any hometown library, or by contacting us.

Why is my account blocked?

Answer

Customers with fees over $15 are blocked from checking out materials, but may use computers and online resources. Library fees may be paid in person at the library or online. If paying online, you must make a payment of $5 or more.
